Expression Dataset Will Not Open

Symptom: An attempt to open an Expression Dataset gives an "Open somewhere else" error even though it cannot be open anywhere else.

Solution: An Expression Dataset opened for editing (in the Expression Dataset Manager) works with a temporary file in the program folder (typically C:\Program Files\GenMAPP 2) that has the same name as the Expression Dataset and the extension .$gx. If the program or the computer crashes while editing an Expression Dataset, that file will be left in place. GenMAPP uses the existence of that file to determine whether an Expression Dataset may be edited. Be sure that the Expression Dataset is not being edited by GenMAPP and then delete the .$gx file. If GenMAPP is not open, it is safe to delete all .$gx files.
